I'm gonna be the voice of non-reason.

Without taking a risk you are destined to not follow through with your dream.

A good example is in the movie Rudy, if he doesn't leave his girl, leave the comfort zone of his family and job, pack up his shit and go to ND it never happens. He has nothing to fall back on once he starts his dream in motion. It is either succeed or fail.

The risk is what will keep you on the right track, with no risk (a job to go back to, or a degree in the background) you cannot fail, you only had a temporary setback to your career. A career that will be one you hate while you sit around in a bar after work wondering what could have been.

Until I was about 25 I was the most steady person you ever met. I don't know what happened but something clicked in my head and said "fuck it, whats the worst that could happen"

I moved to Europe, I failed in staying there, and it cost me considerable sums of money, but i would not pass up the experience I had for anything.

I stopped working and play poker for a living, I have good times and I have bad times, but again I would not trade this experience.

Who knows maybe 2 years from now I quit poker altogether and do something else.
