Check out Ender's Game by Orsen Scot Card. He has a whole series that starts with this book, however if you don't like this book, you won't like the others.

I've also read The D'Vinci Code and Angels and Demons and found both of them lacking as far as good reading is concerned. Alot of that has to do with previous research I've done into both the Catholic religion and into the Knights Templar and associated 'cults'. I found Dan Browns speculations entertaining, but far from the truth. I've read the vast majority of Cusslers books and find them "light" entertainment. Dirk Pitt is somewhat predictable, but the end of the books usually have enough of a surprise to keep me reading.

I also highly recommend all the 'Jack Ryan' Books by Tom Clancy...PM for a complete list. Even though some of these have been made into movies, the books are so much better as to not even concider the movies from the books, but as acts in and of themselves.

If you like Fantasy, try David Eddings...I recommend a 5 book series called "The Belgariad" (iirc) and another 5 book series called "The Mallorean". Read the Belgariad first.

If you like "crime" books, Jeggery Deaver has a few good ones out...and I can't read enough of John Grisham when it comes to "law" books.

If your into "light" reading, Piers Anthony's Incarnations of Immortality" series is geared toward a younger reader, but the implications for religion are staggering if you read between the lines...

Sci-Fi....Arther C Clark has some good ones out and "Tau Zero" by Paul Anderson is one of my favorites.

If you want more specific recommendations on the general areas that I've mentioned, PM me and I'd be happy to provide you a list of books I've read recently that I concidered decent and worthy of a read. My highest Recommendations at the moment go with Orson Scott Card and his Ender's Game. Currently there are 8 books in the "Ender's" Series that are great reading. OSC also has several other books I've read and they've all be decent, jst not on the caliber of Ender's Game, and the books that follow that series.
