Outcome of My 1st Live game
I played my 1st live game at Rite Aid Warehouse, It was a 25$ buy in all the money is donated to charity, but there would be prizes to the top 5 finishers out of 60 people. My dad told me about this tourny because he works there, he also heard alot of his friends talking about it for the past few months because theres alot of hardcore poker players in this small little town. ALot of them you see at the small casino we have every night.
My game plan was to watch how everybody plays at my table before I play any hands, But somehow I totally forgot to do this, my other game plan was not to go all in early.
Well we sat down to play 6 people on my table, Im BB
I got J/k Myself and another guy the only people in the hand
Flop comes 9/10/J
( I say to myself in my head I need to play this smart)
I check to make him think I didnt hit a peice of this, turn comes Q, I hit the Straight. This guy goes all in on turn I call and he turns over 10/Q river comes a 6.
So on the 1st hand I already have a commanding chip stack on the playing field. Within 5 hands of the last Hand I hit K/K Flop comes A/7/K/ I raise 10 chips and then this older guy Go's all in I call to find out he has A/7, My heart started to beat before the river card was turned over, but thankfully it was a A/7.
After this hand they moved me to another table since I cleaned out almost all of that table within 6 hands. The next table I prolly folded 20-30 hands without playing any, I was getting cold cards every hand.
I was moved to another table, with all the chip leaders. My chip stack started shrinking slowly I had about 40 chips left when everybody else was sitting on a good 100+, I get Dealt A/A I I checked this preflop because everybody was playing to tight and if I raised I feared this guy might fold. Flop comes 2/3/4. My A/A were looking great, this guy raises on the flop I call, Turn comes 5
So I got A/A
Communit Cards 2/3/4/5/
To my amazement he goes all in, I sat there thinking if hes got the 6 im screwed and if hes got the ace split pot. I was thinking to myself god I played these rockets so horribly. I finally make the call to find out this guy had 8/8.
I make the final table as the short stack but I walk away in 2nd place in my 1st live game. I can now Say I beat 90% of the card sharks at are local casino.
