Obviously its the advertising money that is running this here, but this setup has never been done because it goes against the poker players' wishes. If you're in a tournament, this is the last option that you would want.
It will definitely increase poker's exposure, which is great for everyone, but that's the only good I can see coming from this idea.

3 months is stupid but the idea is basically good. It sucked that the coverage came months later when you already know who won & saw most of the hands on cardplayer or w/e. It's also interesting because the players can prepare now for the FT, find out how their opponents play...should change the FT dynamics imo
