I think river is very close to a shove. I'd bet flop, bet turn and then push river. The spade isnt great but this guy is as likely to have QT or even A8/99 etc as a flush draw. In this type of spot I dont really want to fold and feel checking allows him to check back hands like an 8 but bet flushes so I put it in for him.
I can see a check fold if hes a fish playing maybe 40/10 but someone playing this many hands can probably clal with anything on the rover.
