I actually prefer calling is he is very tight. We are getting very marginal odds to chase a set so we want to stack him as often as possible when we hit.

I don't know what you want to achieve by calling against a LAG. Sure he can have a wide range but we are more than likely to see at least one overcard on the flop and our 9s will struggle facing heat in a re raised pot unimproved.
