So I assume you'll get an hd signal from your cable supplier? Keep that in mind, some tvs come with an HD Tuner for those buyers who don't have an HD cable service, which is an extra cost you can avoid.

"Bigger price" than what? Most LCDs are widescreen and are HD ready. You'd pay a bigger price for a plasma, and I'd definitely recommend LCD over plasma.

Not a bad thing to look into. Tons of LCD TV manufacturers are popping up, and most use the same components as the known companies do. Just read customer reviews if you don't know the company - some do have reputably shitty customer service, for example. But like, a lot of people haven't heard of Vizio or Olevia, and they make solid products from what I've heard.
