If I bet $40, he can raise so many times to $100-$120 and I could get him to fold a lot of those hands 3-betting to put him in a push/fold spot. Or he calls a re-pop to $275-$300 and I have great odds to shove the turn.

yeah, betting the flop then 3betting if raised is without a doubt the best way to play the hand imo. It will make ur decisions alot easier on the turn, thats for sure.
anyways, id probably bet 2/3s potsize on the flop and take it from there.
