At least I got to practice being calm?!
A little background. I asked a player that I look up to, what my biggest problem/leak was when playing live. He said w/o a doubt, since I am so competitive and want to win EVERY hand, I often blow up after a bad beat. I often bitch and moan on a suck out and don't think about the times I suck out.
Well I got tested on that tonight.
FIRST HAND of the night. I sit down, the game has been going for quite some time. I know all but 1 player. A loose aggressive/idiotic player in first pos. goes all in. Two people fold. The owner of the places, also goes AI.
I am in the blind w/ JJ. Usually his is an easy fold. However, the guy in EP is drunk enough to say "I have that same hand we had last time we went AI" to the owner. He responds "Me too! AK vs 99!"
I go AI.
Flop comes XX 9
Turn X
River 9
No big deal. He sucks out. He has done it before to me. (10 10 vs Q 10)
Second buy in.
Another loose aggressive player raises in mid pos. a maniac in flat calls. On the button I have AA and re-raise all in. The mid player folds. the maniac calls and shows
22
Flop comes w/ a 2. I don't improve.
No big deal. I stay calm.
A player in UTG + 1 makes a modest raise. I wake up w/ QQ in MP. I re-raise about 2/3's my stack (it's 40 dollar buy in max NL, I just reloaded) he re-raises me all in. I call. He shows 10 10.
10 on the turn.
No big deal. I reload. and the best part? I hit a good run of cards and only come out about 80 dollars behind for the night.
Not bad for starting off losing 4 4-1's!!
Best of all. I didn't explode. Yell/Cry like a child and let it affect my game.
