I think it depends on what standard you are playing at. If it's small stakes, from my experience a lot of players will call no matter what, so it's better to play a straight a-b game IMHO.

If you're playing against slightly better players it really depends on what type of read you have on your opponents. If it was a tight player i would stick in a biggish bet, if he calls slow down as he probably has a pair. If it's a trickier player i would consider check raising.
