I read that no limit has less variance and can produce greater gains, giving you more tools with which to exploit poorer players.

What are your thought on the matter?

Understand that NL is a whole different mindset than Limit. You have to learn to play in a totally different way. When going to NL you have to be able to play the person and not just the cards. In Limit your cards and the board tend to dictate how and when you bet way more often than in NL. In NL you dont even have to have good cards to win a hand. Its a lot more about using your stack for leverage and things that relate to that.

I started playing Limit first and began to excel at it. I read SSH (which if you have not read yet hunter you are a moron, whether you are going to play NL or not). This book helped me to send my game into the green zone. I took a break from poker after a stupid situation of playing way outside my BR and then when I came back I decided to give small stakes NL a try. I loved it. I will now probably never go back to Limit.

I agree with Deme, you should definitely give each form a few thousand hands and see how you fare, as well as how you like each one. To be honest, the reason I love NL so much now is not that I make way more money, but that I have so much more fun.
