It's an innocent looking board, I would always bet out on the flop here after raising PF. He could easily think you had a big ace, he may have been trying to check raise you. He may well call the one bet on the flop with Ax or whatever, when he wouldn't call your turn bet. I never check through a big hand in limit, I smooth call a fair bit and check raise alot but even heads up I am not a fan of checking a hand through.
